Vocabulary from the prologue of Tuck Everlasting
12. quiver (v.) – to shake, shiver, or tremble (A quiver of his mouth showed that he was about to cry. I watch the leaves quiver outside my window.)
13. relieving: (adj.) / (v.) making less, easier, or reducing pain. (It was relieving news that I didn’t have a fracture in my arm.)
14. undisturbed: (adj. ) not troubled or touched. (It is best to leave the flowers undisturbed.)
15. balmy (adj). – soothing, mild. (There are often balmy nights in mid-summer.)
16. prologue: (n) an introduction to a novel, poem or other literary work. (After she read the prologue, she was hooked.)

Wednesday:
___Using the Tuck Everlasting prologue as an inspiration, write a descriptive paragraph that begins with “The third week of September…” Be sure to incorporate specific details and all the five senses in your writing. Try to use a simile or metaphor as well. You are always encouraged to use vocabulary words, but they are not required.

(Tests will be multiple-choice for root words. For all other words, it will be either matching/fill in the blank, or writing a basic definition and using the word in a sentence.)
